I gotta try this again!

OKAY so I found this awesome video on youtube How To Crochet Ripple Afghan aka Wave or and I found out how I could make my own chevron blanket so I'm going to use MORE of my left over yarn to get another baby blanket complete.  The number of stitches used is 14+2 so for 3 points you will need 42+2 stitches.  I'll show you my progress.  Not sure how big I'm going to make this one yet.

Baby Chevron Blanket Is All Done.

Well this blanket took me a little under a week to complete and I'm satisfied with the results.  Still wish that it turned out bigger but at least I know that I can work a chevron stitch now. Here's the link to this pattern.

Chevron Crazy.

Well how are you doing this fine morning?  My fingers are a little stiff from the cold so I'm going to try to type this out as efficiently and as quickly as i can so I can go warm up.  This weekend was amazing and this week so far has been great.  We just got baby girls progress report and she's doing EXCELLENT in school so we're going to treat her with something.   I'm not sure what that something is going to be but whatever it is it's going to be amazing.

So I have a couple of things to get started on this weekend but the first thing that I have to get started on for sure is my cousins ear warmers.  I still have a few things to get for her but since money is so tight right now I'm going to use some of my left over yarn to make her something since she's going to be down this weekend.  Once I find what pattern I'm going to use I will share with you.

When it comes to my blankets, if you were reading some of my previous posts then you will know that I just finished a houndstooth baby blanket last week and today I'm letting you know that I started yet another one so I can say goodbye to all my extra yarn so I can make room for more lol.  The pattern that I'm working with is Shaded Blanket by Vanna White.  Now I had tried time and time again in the past to make a chevron stitched blanket but I always in whatever way possible screwed it up so i just gave up on it.  So fast forward to almost three years later and I decided that I was going to try again and it's looking awesome so far!!

So what do I think of the pattern so far?  It's very easy to follow so I know that anyone can do this project.  The sizing on the other hand is a little disappointing because the size that I decided to work up, which is the baby sized blanket, has turned out to be too small.  I can see if it were a preemie blanket but from what I read it's supposed to be a regular sized baby blanket but it isn't.  I'm going to finish it up and give it away as a car seat blanket because I think the size of the blanket would make it an appropriate  car seat accessory.  I will do this again but the next time I do it I will stick with the bigger size both for adult and baby gifts.

Well that's all the updates I have for now so I'll be back to share more later.  Be Blessed!  Be Inspired!!

Lip Balm trial #2!!

So I tried the honey and oil method yesterday and tried the Vaseline method today and I like the Vaseline version a lot beter.   WORD OF CAUTION:  BE VERY CAREFUL NOT TO MICROWAVE EYESHADOW THAT MAY CONTAIN PARTICLES  OF METAL.  I WENT TO MICROWAVE MY MIXTURE AND DIDN'T REALIZE THAT MY SHIMMERY BALM THAT I HAD CREATED HAD BITS OF METAL WHICH CAUSED FOR A SHORT LIGHT SHOW IN MY KITCHEN LOL.  Other than that everything turned out great.  Oh!  I went ahead and got the vaseline with the coco butter so there wasn't any need for me to put any kind of extract in since it already smells divine.
Photo: Cant wait to make more colors. I wanted to use a light color this time but there's a darker color lip stick that's almost empty in my makeup box so I will be using that pretty soon to make another balm.  If you're feeling crafty and you want to try something fun for yourself and/or for another friend then you should try this.  It's fun.  The videos for this project is posted in one of my previous lip balm post so be sure to check them out for more information.

Lip Gloss Trial #1

I went pretty well I have to say.  I have it in the freezer so it can set so I can't wait till it's ready so I can try it out.  I'm going to get what I need for our arts and crafts tomorrow so the girls can make their lip balms!!

Homemade Lip Gloss & Lip Balm!

Oh best believe that I'm going to get my hands dirty in making a few batches for myself and for my kids!  How is everyone doing today?  Well besides it being completely wet and cold out side, I'm nice and warm in my dining room writing to you so I'm fabulous.

Okay so I recently went on youtube to try to figure out some fun beauty tips that I hadn't heard of yet and came across several videos that were helpful BUT the main video that I found pretty awesome were two different videos on making homemade lip glosses and lip balms.  My first reaction was NO WAY!  But as I stayed tuned to the videos and watched them I knew that I had to try this with my girls.

So for those of you who don't know my baby girls they are both beautiful little ladies who LOVE to get into their mommy's make, mainly the lip gloss, and I've been trying to find different ways to get them to STOP sneaking into my stash.  Lol yes I've tried hiding them and placing them in high places but I have ninja children so I needed to find another way to get them turned to something else so a beautiful quick fix was for them to have their own lip gloss so other people, and myself, started getting them their own glosses and balms which was fine BUT now that I've found these videos I will NOT be buying any lip care for my girls for quite a while.  The main reason being that they don't keep up with the glosses/balms very well so they get lost rather quickly.  But in their defense one is in kindergarten and the other is a toddler so I'm not mad at them:-D

They love being in the kitchen with me and they LOVE doing arts and crafts together so I knew that this project would be just amazing for all of us girls.  I haven't figured out what I wanted to do with my son yet but he's a little over a year so I think he'll be forgiving of me and he'll give me a little more time to figure something out:-)  Okay so for the balms you'll need a small container to hold the balm once it's complete, Vaseline or petroleum jelly, food coloring, tooth pics and small bowl to work in.  For the gloss you'll need vaseline or the petroleum jelly, and either a lip stick or eyeshadow, small bow to work in, and some type of mixer.  I'll let the videos do the rest and I'll be sure to post pictures on here tomorrow of what we did!!  So excited!!

Be Blessed.  Be Inspired.

Oil Pulling.

Well I found about this by my mother in law and she told me to try it because it was supposed to be very beneficial so after several months of trying to decide I went ahead and just did it!  Well I'm doing it as I type and so far it's okay.  I mean I'm using extra virgin olive oil and as long as I don't try to taste it I'm good.  This is supposed to whiten my teeth and cleanse my entire body so lets see how my first attempt went!

All Done!!

So I finally finished up the houndstooth stitch baby blanket that I was working on last week.

Photo: all done and ready to go :-D http://www.eyeem.com/p/5123398

I first went on searched the web to where I could the pattern for this this stitch and I found it here.

How to Crochet the Houndstooth Stitch NewStitchaDay.com

From there I decided the proper number of chains to make and decided on 96 chs.  I followed the instructions till I reached my desired length and then worked the border.  I got the idea for my border from one of the books I have called Heirloom Afghans by Kay Meadors.  Well I just wanted to share with you what I did so I hope that you like!!  I plan to work on other projects so you'll be hearing from me again!!

Projects that HAVE to get done.

Well as it turns out I have two ear warmers that HAVE to get done for my cousin ASAP and a hat needs to be finished for my husbands friend so I have a lot of work to do this weekend.  Not including looking up courses that I have to get done before June so I'm going to be a pretty busy lady this weekend.  Well I just wanted to update you on what's going on and hopefully I'll be back later on to share some pictures of my progress.  I might even publish another pattern.:-D

Promised Picture(s)

Well here's a picture of the first dish that I finished for dinner.
#1
This is a cheaper everyday version of my uncles mac and cheese.  I add a few things to it to make it my own and the kids love it!  I'm now waiting for my seared chicken and veggies to finish up.  #accomlished!

Picture #2
Well I finally got everything finished and ready to go.  Here's to a great year of good eating and awesome health!!

Tonights Menu:-) Day #3

Well I've been trying something new in the kitchen for the last two days so I decided that I would continue to embark on that journey today.  So  I'm planning on making my regular fried chicken which is boneless and skinless chicken breast, which works out great for us because it's easier for the kids to enjoy and it's a lot healthier.

Now I  know that there are going to be some people who stick their nose up at the thought of friend chicken breast because they may think that that part of the chicken will come out too dry.  But I am here to tell you that if you are selectful of where you purchase your chicken and you are careful not to overcook it I can guarantee to you that it will come out tasting both moist and delicious.   I'll give you an example for us.  I started out getting my meats at Food 4 Less and/or Staters but once it got to expensive for us to go there I started shopping mainly at either Walmart, Target, and Fresh And Easy.  To clarify I wouldn't get my meat at Target but I would get them at Wally's World( our nick name for Walmart lol) or Fresh And Easy.

Well one day I decided that I would try Albertsons down the way since I had a discount card for them and the meat that I ended up cooking from that store came out rubbery and flat tasting.  I knew that it was the brand from Albertsons because I knew for a fact that I did not overcook it.  It was just an off tasting chicken.  It even looked smaller and more sad looking then the other chicken breast that I had purchased before from other stores.  So after going back to my usual places to buy my meat I knew that I would continue to buy from my usual places.

I'm not saying that every Albertsons are terrible when it comes to their meat selection but I am telling you my experience with the Albertsons that used to be close by to us.  They closed down not too long ago.

So back to tonight's dinner, what will be new for this evenings menue? My own personal take on a mac and cheese casserole.  We all love mac and cheese here so I know that it will be a hit.  I'm just excited to try a different recipe to see how we all enjoy it.  I will be back later to share pictures with you like I did yesterday:-D  Today is a great day!!  Be Blessed! Be Inspired!

UPDATE!!  Well I ran out of flour and didn't replace my previous bag so I can't fry chicken:-(  But what I will do is sear the chicken breast, top it off with a light seasoning and put it in the oven to finish.  Once it's almost done cooking through I'll top it with tomatoes and chilies.  The mac & cheese is now in the oven so Once that's done I'll post pictures:-D  Blessings!!

A Great Word To Start My Day.

"So I say walk by the spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh."
Gal 5:16

This is so true and I plan to do so today as best as I can!  Be blessed everyone and have a wonderful day today:-)  I will be back later on to share with you what's going on for today's projects.

Here's a pic!

Well I promised you a picture of tonights dinner so here it is!!

I got the recipe from here http://www.tasteofhome.com/Recipes/Enchilada-Casserole
It was very easy to put together and extremely affordable.   More importantly it taste great! To change things up a little bit in this recipe I decided to go ahead and add shredded chicken breast along with the ground beef.  My reasoning behind that was because I wanted to try to add more meat to the casserole since I had read other people say that the recipe should've called for a little more meat.  The mommy loved it, I loved it, the kids loved it and my husband loved it!  Which surprised me a bunch because he usually favors the green enchilada sauce over the red.  So will I try this again?  Absolutely.

Well Good Day To You!!

Today really is a beautiful morning!  I started out the day by getting ready to do my daily runs,  published a hat pattern on ravelry.com and had the chance to study the word today while waiting for school to start.  And now that I'm back I can now share with you what I will be getting done today!  Well if you haven't read in my previous post, I had said that I was starting a teeth whitening journey and today is the day that I will start that regiment again.  I decided that I would whiten/clean my teeth with baking soda every other day and I have wonderful results so far!

So to catch you up on what I do to my teeth every other day, I start the day off by brushing my teeth as usual and sometime towards the middle of the day, because that's the best time that I can spare, I put together my paste( half part baking soda second half water) and put the paste on my tooth brush.  Now for some this might taste a little too off for you so I heard from the video that putting a tiny bit of tooth paste on top of your baking soda paste will help with the taste.  I tried so once and it did BUT I also found that brush with the baking soda paste by itself really isn't that bad.  Once I'm done brushing the areas of my teeth that need to be whitened I then rinse my mouth, which not only leaves my teeth looking brighter makes makes them look and feel a lot more CLEAN.  I know that I didn't post this video before so here is the video I used to start this project for myself.

My second project that I will be working on today is making an enchilada casserole  for dinner tonight:-D  I've never tried this so this will be fun and I will try to post better pictures for you today!  Well I have a lot of work to get done around the house so I will be back later to share pictures of my results.  What all are you guys doing to make yourselves better for this year?  Let me know!!

Hat For My Girl!

Half Pint requested a hat that was pink and blue and went ahead and made it early since she is doing so well in school.
Half Pint's Surprise!
You go baby girl!

What I did!

Small Child mini slouchie.

I got the yarn of my choice ( two different color skeins of Red Heart Super Saver) and a J hook. If I were making stripes then I would of course use the two different colors but if I were to make the hat in a solid color then I would use just the one skein.  In this case I used two and alternated the colors on every row.
(I made color A red and color B blue.)

Round 1) Starting with color A ch4, sl st in beginning ch to make a loop.  DC 10 times in Loop, slip st in beginning dc.
Round2) Ch2, dc in same stitch and 2dc in every st around, slip st beginning ch to join.
Round3) Ch2, dc in same stitch and in the next stitch, *2dc in next stitch, dc in next stitch* repeat from * all the way around, sl st in beginning ch
Round4) Ch2, dc in same stitch and in next two stitches, *2dc, dc in next two stitches* repeat from * all the way around, sl st in beginning ch.
Round5) Ch2, dc in same stitch and in the next three sttiches, *2dc, dc in the next three stitches* repeat from * sl st in beginning ch.
Round6) Ch2, dc in same stitch and in the next four stitches, *2dc, dc in the next four stitches*, repeat from* sl st in beginning ch.
Row7 - R18) ch2 dc in each dc around, sl st in beginning ch.
Row19 - Row20) (with color B)ch2, *fpdc, in first stitch, bpdc in next and repeat all the way around.  sl st in beginning ch.  Bind off!
 .

Now the hat that I made the first time around came out a little bigger than expected for my daughter, so I went ahead and put a bobby pin on both sides of her hat to keep it from falling off during her play time. So if your work comes out to be a little big as well, then just ignore  row 6 and continue from row 7 and on.  I hope my extra notes helped but  if you have any questions please feel free to message me:-D

Tonights Dinner = Success!!

Well after trying the 20 minute tomato sauce it turned out to be a complete success!!

Besides prepping with chopping up the veggies and what not everything took close to 30 minutes to finish up and pretty much all of it was finished.  yay!!!  Will do this again!!

Joy Of Cooking.

My mother in law gave me a giant book called "Joy Of Cooking" which made me super thankful to her because if you know me, then you know that I LOVE to cook and find different recipes to try for my family.  This book which resembles a food bible to me is packed with all types of different recipes so I decided that I was going to try to work through at least half of this book before the year is over.

SO tonight for this week is spaghetti night so I'm going to use a recipe from here to see how it comes out and I will try my best to remember to take pictures before we indulge:-D Okay so I'm going to go ahead and try to make the "Maria's Twenty-Minute_ tomato Sauce" which happens to be enough for one pound of pasta.  For those who have the book it's on the bottom left hand side on page 305

What am I going to need? 1 medium onion, carrots, garlic,  one 28-ounce can whole tomatoes with juice, oregano, sugar, red pepper flakes, salt, pepper, and olive oil.  Wish me luck!!!

Update For the Morning:-D

Well good morning readers and how are you doing?  It's super early for me so I'm trying to wake myself up but while I'm waiting to make my daily morning runs I thought that I would write to you for a short while to give you my thoughts on the most recent pattern that I had to work with.

Besides working on two bavarian blankets, I have to finish up a nostalgic wrap for a friends grandbaby and several different hats.  What hats do I have to get done?  One mohawk hat and  two regualr beanies.  I'm not worried about the beanies but more so the mohawk hat itself.  I have the hat done but I'm working on the strip and I'm trying to get the strip the way that I want it.  I wanted to write more but time has gotten away from me so I will be posting pictures and what not more for you.  Until later be blessed, be inspired and stay warm!!

Baravian Madness!

Bubba's Second Blanket In The Making

Photo: Putting all my extra yarn to work. I'm sure Bubba will love it.
Round 8

Happy TGIF everyone!  I hope that everyone is having a wonderful day and will continue to have an even better weekend.  This week has been thankfully uneventful and I"m thankful that God has kept it that way.  On the other hand, when it comes to my DIY projects I've been super busy throughout this week.  From making a delivery to working on three separate blankets at once I've been a very busy woman:-)  My latest project for the day is this bavarian blanket.  This project is NOT for a beginner so if you happen to be one and you want to try this, I would suggest working on all your basic crocheting stitches and once you have them down then go for it!  And for those who are a little more on the experience side and you want to try something a little challenging then go here and check the pattern out!
Fall Comfort Throw by Shari White
It's a little big of a challenge getting it started but once you've mastered the first four rows it starts to get easier.  Oh!  Being that the terms our european  I found some youtube videos to help me out a lot!  I pasted them here

Well I have plenty of crocheting to do and dinner to get started so I will be back later on to talk to you some more and to give you an update on the projects I'm working on.  What have you been up to lately?  Stay warm and be blessed!

Natural Teeth Whitening Trial.

So I started to do some cleaning at home and while i was taking a break I went online to try to find a cool and natural way to whiten my teeth without having to spend a load of money.  I found cool youtube video that showed me that all I had to do was making a paste of mixing equal parts of water and baking soda and to brush my teeth with that.  This is my first time trying it and I already saw amazing results and I cannot wait till a week goes by to see how much whiter my teeth get.  So if you're looking for a whitener you might want to try using baking soda:-)  HAD to write something quick about that!!

Day 2. My Confession.

So I did pretty well starting my whole new year with a bang when it comes to my fast.  BUT lol I did break towards the end of the day not because I couldn't take the intensity of everything but because I didn't want to catch myself getting dizy or falling on stage so I had two small snacks before practice and a small dinner before I went to bed which consisted of baked chicken and mexican rice and veggies.  I kept my portion small so I still feel pretty good for the day.  For day two I decided to start myself on a small breakfast and I plan to go ahead and fast for the rest of the day.  I know that I didn't follow the guidelines that I set for myself by the t but hey at least I'm doing something different with myself.

As far as my blankets go I'm working on two totally different ones at the same time which need to be done ASAP so once I'm done writing here I'll most likely start that back up again.

As far as the worship team I'm in goes, I just found out that we will be singing at a revival later on this month so I'm super excited about that.  It'll actually be the first revival that I've ever been to, or at least the first one that I can remember, so this will be awesome to be a part of.

Well you've heard all the updates that I have for you.  I'm still working on my fast, exercising, knitting, and crocheting A LOT so I'm keeping busy and I will be sure to keep you updated on everything.

Be Blessed.  Be Inspired.  Be Bold.

Crocodile Blanket In Progress!!

I still have a long way to go but I'm super proud of my progress thus far.  I started out following a pattern that frogged that and restarted by working up my own version of the blanket that I saw.  Once I'm done with the body, which will take a LONG time to finish, I'll then work my way through the border.  What do ya think??

Day 1 To Getting My Mind Right And My Body Back!!

Well I decided yesterday that I was going to go on a well deserved body cleanse so today is the first day for me and so far I'm okay.  It's almost time for lunch and I'm starting to get a little hungry but I'm not going to give into the hunger at the moment.  My plan for the time being is to go on a fast for at least today to see how I do and if I can survive that I will go on for another full fast tomorrow.  If I pass tomorrow then I will fast for one more day then start my meals of fruits, veggies and whole wheat grains.  But I'm saying this now.  We'll have to wait and see if I really go through with this.

I'm not a dietitian or a doctor or some kind of expert.  I'm just me trying different ways to cleanse my body and lose the weight that I've kept on since my last two pregnancies.  Now along with my fast and future diet I will be putting together an exercise regiment that I will do daily.  Well not WILL..I AM starting today:-D  I'm not going to do anything outrageous my first day in because I don't want to hurt myself.  For day 1 to about day 3 I will be doing ten push ups( lady stile of course:-D), ten sit ups, ten leg lifts, ten squats and and five pairs of lunges.  I've done these sets before so I know that I won't be asking too much of myself.  Once my fast is over  I'll then start my running but for now I just want to work on getting my heart rate up a little bit.

My goal for the next three days are to pray often, get some of my projects completed, doing my daily exercise regiments and be sure that I drink PLENTY of water!

And again  I want to make this clear again that I AM NOT ASKING ANYONE TO DO WHAT I AM WRITING HERE BECAUSE I AM NOT AN EXPERT AND DO NOT KNOW WHAT I CAN DO FOR OTHER PEOPLE.  I AM ONLY WRITING DOWN MY OWN PERSONAL JOURNEY TO HELP INSPIRE ME TO KEEP GOING.  IF YOU ARE THINKING ABOUT GETTING YOURSELF BACK INTO SHAPE AND HAVE ANY QUESTIONS I WOULD HIGHLY SUGGEST THAT YOU TALK TO YOU MEDICAL PROVIDER.  Once I'm back from picking baby girl up from school the exercise will begin.  Lord please be with me!!  Here's to the next three days and the next 5 months!!!

Still Knitting As Fast As I Can!

I'm still working on the first 28 rows of the blanket that I designed for my girls.  It's going pretty slow but at least I am making some kind of progress!!  What all is new with you?  As for me I decided to go ahead and dye my hair within the next couple of weeks to change things up for myself so that's going to be exciting.  I'm either going to go with a reddish hue or a purple hue.  Still trying to decide but I will make sure to do a tutorial of my hair adventures with the dye!!  Be Blessed.  Be Adventurous!!

First to see.

Here is the first picture of the blanket that I'm making for my girls.  If all goes as planned I plan to add a lacy border and line the the blanket with a pretty fabric.  I'm still trying to decide on whether I want to publish this pattern or not.  How's everyones first day of the week going?  Mine is going pretty well.  Got some knitting done and I"m finally moving on from this horrid cold.  Be Blessed!!  Be Inspired!!!

I do..again!

What a wonderful day to knit!

It sure its because it's been a HOT minute since I've knitted so I chose to go ahead and work up my own pattern on a piece of graphing paper and came up with a simple heart design to knit to a blanket.  I originally wanted it to be a baby blanket but I'm going to make it for my girls instead.  They love hearts and the color pink and purple so I'm going to make it happen for them.  I'll add pictures of my progress as soon as I can.  I'm using one strand of yarn this time because I don't have enough to double strand my work.  I'm writing the pattern out as I go so I might share with you:-D

Well Good Day To You!!

I know that I recently added in some random fashion post but besides knitting, crocheting and sewing, fashion is another passion of mine and I love to create new looks for fun.  I mostly try to make looks that would be pretty affordable for myself but other times I just put together what looks awesome no matter what the price is.  I know that this post is super random but I just had to make that clear to you because I didn't want you thinking that my blog had possibly been hacked into because that just isn't the case at all.

On a much different note how was your New Years?  Ours was pretty awesome because for the past couple of years we were either planning for a funereal, worrying about someone or we were worrying about someone being in the hospital so this year was the first year in a while that we were able to share a peaceful and FUN New Years Eve.  My husband and I decided that it would be pretty fun for us to take the kids out to Shakeys and the kids loved it.  My favorite part of that part of the evening was watching my kids interact with one another has we all ate dinner.  They are truly interesting characters that never keep me in one place for too long I tell you.  But yeah we all had a great time eating and having fun with each other then we took the short drive on back home to chill for the rest of the evening.  I hope that everyone elses night was just as awesome and if not even MORE awesom than that!  Lol I"m just in a super good mood at the moment.

So what do I have going on when it comes to my DIY projects??  Plenty!!  I have four hats that I need to finish up, 6 different afghans that I need to finish up and two ear warmers that need to be knitted ASAP so as you can read my hands are full.  Not including my everyday life with the kids:-D  Life is grand.

Well I just wanted to update you on what all is going on so after I sign off here I plan on making a look to share on here.  I'm not sure if I'm going to use a disney character or what I would wear to church to use as a preference but I'll figure it out soon enough:-D

I'll be back later to write more about myself and what all is going on so please be blessed and be Inspired!!!  Oh and Happy New Years!!
