Success!

I thankfully got the set that I was working on safely to the shower and all went well.  Thank you Lord!  Now onto the next two blankets that I have to knit before the end of this month!  Craziness.

Something Positive!!

After enduring a full week of complete sadness and disappointment my husband got GREAT news this morning concerning a possible career change so praise God for that because this call has been something we've been waiting for all week!  I'm so proud of my husband because through everything that he's had to endure he's still standing strong and refuses to give up so kudos to you babe.

Okay so onto the knitting.  So you know that I started a new blanket that was suposed to be a rocking horse blanket.  Well I decided to opt to do something else because I did NOT  like how the pattern was coming out.  Maybe it was me that didn't wait long enough for the pattern to come together but I just didn't want to waste anymore time on a pattern that I just did not like at all so I went back in my pattern collection to try to decide on whether or not I wanted to try something new or something that I had already done, Teddy Bear blanket obviously.  SO I thought about it all night and after asking several people what they thought I should do I decided to try something new .... again lol.  So Wish me luck!

The blanket that I' going to try is a ducky blanket remix.  I'm going to take a graph that I found on ravelry.com and then I'm going to play around with the pattern to come up with my own version of the project. This will turn out great I just know it because it HAS to!

Getting 'Ready To Line This Granny!

Ever since I started working on this granny square blanket for our cousin's baby, I automatically decided that I was going to line the blanket as well for two good reasons.  Reason one is to try something new that I haven't tried before when it comes to this project and  reason two being that it would add a little something extra to the gift.

I always try to give a theme to the blankets that I knit or crochet and the theme for this one is the Dodgers.  The reasoning behind the theme is due to the fact that the future father to be is a fan of the baseball team so I thought to myself, "why not?"  And I loved the idea of this so much that I decided to make an Angels theme (Baseball team) blanket for my son.  We're trying to figure out this machine since we haven't had it out in a while but once I have things going I will be sure to post some pictures for you.  Wish us luck!!

Today has been one of the longest days of my life.

We lost our grandma/mom this morning and it's been the hardest thing to try to deal with.  There are times throughout the day to when I think that this whole ordeal is just one horrible nightmare and then reality kicks in and I have to realize that it's not a dream at all.  One of the sweetest women that I grew to love dearly is gone and I'm heartbroken about it.  And its not just me that I'm hurting for but more so for my mommy and her brothers and sisters.  I know that she's in a place where she's much happier but it still hurts.  Lord please be with us at this time.  I love you grandma and I'm going to miss you so much.  Please give Papa a hug and a kiss for me.

Here We Go.

So besides the sewing that I promised to get done this week I still have  A LOT  of knitting to get done.  I finished one blanket but I still need to get one hat and a pair of booties to go along with it and then it'll be ready for the weekend.  Meanwhile I just started on my next order so I'll be sure to share pictures of that as well!

I have a rather large blanket that needs to be knitted but before I start that I'm going to finish up one or two baby hats and two pairs of booties.  This will be fun.

My pattern pick of the day will be shared later on.

Teddy Bear Blanket Is Complete!

Teddy!!!
 Without the border

I finally finished this blanket after ten fun days of knitting and I am so happy with how it came out.

A lacy finish.

I found this pattern on ravelry.com and the actual link to this pattern is http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/teddy-bear-baby-blanket
The pattern was so easy to follow and the blanket knitted up rather quickly.  Being that the pattern called for two pieces of yarn held together throughout the entire knitting process I tried to get my hands on enough yarn to do so.   But I sadly couldn't so I decided to go ahead and try this pattern with a single piece of yarn this time around and I'm glad that I did because it came out great, and it's actually perfect that it turned out this way being that the baby is due in the late summer.

Would I suggest this pattern to other knitters?  Absolutely!  This project isn't just for beginners or just for the experienced but for all knitters.  If you know how to purl and knit and you know how to count then you got this pattern down.  And it isn't just the fact that the blanket is super easy to finish but the pattern itself is supper easy to play around with because there are endless ways you could personally design your blanket if you take the time to.

And when it comes to the designer of this blanket I have fallen for two other patterns she has made and I'm currently working on another blanket designed by the same maker of this lovely blanket.

So there it is.  I love this pattern and I think that if you're up to trying something cute for a friend or family member then this is something for you to try.  As  I said before, I will be using this pattern again.

Soft Baby Block Tutorial

 Soft Baby Block Tutorial

Good morning to you.  Today is going to be an interesting day because the family and I are about to embark on a once in a life time journey today, but before we do that I wanted to share a short tutorial with you because this is something that I am going to do for a order that I'm working on.

So my sister -in - law wanted to order a baby blanket from me to give to one of her co-workers because they are expecting a baby pretty soon.  So I started brain storming of what all I could do besides the blanket and came up with making a hat, booties and mittens to go along with it.  But while shopping for the yarn that I needed i came across a cute soft baby block that was made out of four granny squares and I knew right then that I HAD to add that into the set as well.  So here's what I do!!

What you'll need:Size H crochet needle or size to obtain guage, yarn needle, four skeins of whatever yarn and whatever color you want to use, and what I call fluff.  You'll need this to fill the block that way its nice and plush.

Here we go!!  I make six granny squares whatever size I need them to be.  I'll do two granny squares a solid color and the other four will be multi colored.

Then once I'm done with all my granny squares I start sewing them together.  I sew the squares in this order :  Sew square  the four square As together then connect that sides together to make a square.  Sew a square B on the top of the of the four squares you just put together.  Before I sew on my last granny square I start filling it with the fluff.  Sew last seem and there you go!

Now when it comes to how I sew everything together I like to use a whip stitch but you can use whatever stitch that you are comfortable with.  I'll be sure to add in plenty of pictures and other things that may help you.

I'll be sure to add pictures later.  Be Blessed & Be Inspired!!!

Who Thinks That I'm Too Young To Knit & Crochet? Change Is Good.

It doesn't happen everyday that I will actually admit that change can be good for us but it's the truth.  You see I'm not one that welcomes change with open arms and as a matter of fact I tend to try to fight it every step of the way but I'm learning that not all change in life is horrible.

I'm not quite sure what's about to happen within our little family but I do feel like there's some kind of a blessing that's getting ready to manifest and I can't help but be extremely excited about it.

This is completely off topic but I had someone say that I was too young to knit/crochet so my question is what's too young to do these projects?  Or any DIY projects??  Why should I pay and another person, whether they're young or old, to do the same exact things that I can do and do better at that??  It never occurred to me that I was supposedly doing something that was a bit too old for me but if that fact is true then I welcome acting old.  I've been acting older that my peers my entire life so that's nothing new to me.

When it comes to the projects that I have been doing, I started off crocheting my heart away, then I decided to become brave and started knitting and became hooked to that.   BUT now I believe that it's time to get back what I started a little over a year ago and that is to finish sewing a dress for myself and the girls, and a couple of button down shirts and slacks for my little guy.  There is something about making my own apparel that's sweet and satisfying at the same time because I can take extra pride in what we (my kids and myself) wear because I know that it was myself that made would have made them with my own two hands.  My momma made some things for me when I was extremely young,  I watched my aunt make numerous things for my cousins and so now I wish to do the same for my own children.

Well I have plenty of dinner and dessert to finish up so Be Blessed & Be Inspired!

Day 3

Day #3.

The pattern I'm using is found here =>>  http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/teddy-bear-baby-blanket
The pattern is very easy and I have to say that I really enjoy using it.  I enjoy it so much that I'm going to make a larger version of this for one of my girls and I might use this again for another gift soon.  I'll be back to share more pictures with you once I get further.  I WILL finish this blanket before Tuesday!

So being that I'm in the baby blanket mood I decided to make the pattern of the day a baby blanket that I found on knittingpatterncentral.com   Here's the actualy link to the page =>> http://www.whattoknitwhen.com/2009/09/like-honeycomb.html

I wanted to make this the pattern of the day because this blanket is the very kind of blanket that I was once too afraid to try but I'm not going to be afraid of it anymore.  Once I get done with this gift set I'll be sure to try this one myself and post it.  Here's to being brave!

Another Shower Gift Is In The Making.

There HAS to be something in the water because there are babies popping up everywhere I look or turn but I can't complain because babies are so precious and cute!  So since we have been invited to attend a shower I decided to go ahead and make them a gift.  I'm not one to make gifts for everyone but when I do I try to go all out for them.

The ORIGINAL plan was to make them two knitted blankets and one grand granny square blanket, a couple of hats, bibs and booties.  BUT being that the shower is only a couple of weeks away, instead of the couple of months that I had planned for, I'm doing the best I can to get through baby blanket #1 and If I'm blessed enough to get through it by the end of this weekend or middle of next week I'll try to get a smaller baby blanket with with two pairs of hats and booties.  But I can't even promise to have all of that done.  Here is what I have done o far and in the midst of  three active kids.

I still have a long way to go but I'm proud of myself.  I found this pattern on ravelry.com for free and the pattern is pretty easy.  I have to take the time to actually write the pattern out because the pattern is given in the form of a graph and it's just a lot easier for me to keep track of my stitches by writing them out as I go.  I'll be sure to keep you up  to date on the progress, and I'll try to get back to you on my pattern of the day after I get dinner started.  Be Blessed & Be Inspired!!

Vest is Complete!

All done with Bubba's vest!
Now that I've finished this one I know what I'll do differently with the next one.  I do want to make a couple for him but I'm going to work more on his blanket to give my brain a break from this project.  More pictures of him with is smart looking vest will be up later on!

So What's On The Menu Tonight?

Tonight's' dinner will include fried chicken, mashed potatos, mixed veggies and for momma, a fresh cucumber salad on the side:-> And I think I'm going to make snicker-doodles for dessert.  I love cooking for my family.

Half Way There!

Hello there and how are you doing today?  Today has been  a pretty hectic day but a blessed one so I cannot complain.  So lets get to the knitting!  When it came to making something for my son, I wanted to make him something that I've been wanting to make him for a very long time and I wanted it to be something that he would be able to use for the next couple of months.  So it didn't take me long to go ahead and make Bubba a couple of vest for church.

Now the fun part actually came to try to find a pattern that I could both read and use and please let me tell you that trying to do so was not easy in the least bit so I went ahead and decided to try to come up with my own basic design.  So then I went hunting in my knitting book and came across a knitting pattern for a child sweater and then BOOM!  It came to me to try to make his vest similar to this because of the simplicity.

Three days later  piece A is complete so now piece B needs to be completed as well, then the sewing needs to be done , and then the moment of truth will be known once baby boy actually tries the vest on.  Hopefully all will go smoothly.

Well I have little people to feed, clothes to wash, a house to vacum, dinner and dessert to make and a vest to finish so I best be on my way!!

Be Blessed & Be Inspired!!

P.S  I know that I need to post the pattern of the day for you so please just give me a couple of hours and it will be up for you to view.  Thanks a bunch!

Knitting For My Bubba.

So here is a picture of what I have knitted so far for Bubba's vest for church.  I'm not following a pattern at the moment so this will be interesting to see how it will come out.  I had to restart at least five times yesterday but I'm thankful that I have a promising piece of work here.  Once I have this piece done I will finish up piece number two which will be the back piece and then I will sew them together.  The braid pattern that I'm using is from the knitting book that I use a lot that's entitled " 99 Knitting Stitches" and the instructions that are shared in the book are pretty easy to follow.  There's another pattern that I had originally wanted to use instead but I'm saving that pattern for a lighter vest so it'll be easier to see the cool designs.  Well there's still a lot of knitting to do so I better be off.  I'll try to come back to share the pattern of the day with you before the day is over.  Be Blessed & Be Inspired!!

Bubbas first vest.

Well I've decided to go ahead and try to make a vest for Bubba for the very first time.  After knitting the shrug I decided that it was time to try to make another item of clothing for the kids. After first I found a cute pattern for my daughter but decided to try to make a vest instead.    Wish this adventure the best!!  Pictures will be posted soon.

Back To Blankets.

Now that I'm done with my first item of clothing (my shrug!!!)  I going to start up the two blankets that I still need to get done.  The Sailboat blanket for my son and the cable blanket to finish a baby set that I started, and then after those are finished I'm going to be brave and try to make some shirts and sweaters for the babies.  I will be brave.

My First Shrug!

LionBrand Shrug!!

I'm so excited to share a couple of pictures that I have of the new shrug that I just finished knitting.  It all began a couple of weeks ago when I was surfing a couple of blogs that I follow and came across a project that I had to try.  Turns out that this pattern is available on lionbrand.com so I went ahead to find the pattern to try it out.   The pattern itself is extremely easy and almost to the point to where it's TOO easy.  It's great for beginners and it's also great it you're up for some mindless knitting to do while you're watching tv or just chillin.    Here's the link to the pattern => >  http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/90687AD.html?noImages=0&utm_source=Patterns_20100406_Apr06&utm_medium=Emails&utm_campaign=NewPatternsAlert&utm_content=KnitStockinetteStitchShrug&r=1

What A Beautiful Summers Day It Is!

Yes it is!  Hello and how are you doing?  I'm doing pretty well.  Tehre is so much that's going great so life could not be better!  I almost have my shrug ready so once it's all done I will be posting pictures of it so you can see the finished product.  My goal for this month is to start all the clothing that I want done before the fall and winter months get here that way once we're into the colder months I won't be making things last minute for the kids or for myself.

So! I tried to find something for this season to display for the pattern of the day but I couldn't find anything that inspired me but I do have a really cute hat that will be pretty awesome for the colder months.  I will look into making this for my daughter before she goes back to school.

A Baby Getting Over A Cold Isn't Fun.

Taking care of a sick baby isn't fun at all and that's what I've been doing for the past week or so.  My poor baby is finally starting to get over his cold but still has the boogies and is extremely clingy at the moment so hopefully bubba will be back to his normal self very soon.

I don't take time to reflect on how blessed I am to have three healthy, happy and beautiful babies but I need to more often.  It's not that I mean to be absent minded to that fact but I guess it just comes naturally when there's so much going on in life and you barely have time to sit back and just be in the moment.  Thank you Lord for blessing us with our beautiful,  healthy and happy babies.

I still have a lot of knitting to do so I'll be back later to update you on that.  Be Blessed & Be Inspired!!
