Chevron Flame Afghan Trial #1.

Hey there readers how are you guys doing?  Well being that this year started off pretty well, Thank you Lord, I'm doing pretty good.  I wanted to write to you this evening to let you know that I am once again knitting up another afghan.  This time around though I'm knitting a larger sized afghan for our family instead , and the reasoning for that is due to the fact that we are kind of low on our family blanket collection at moment!

I decided to use a knitting stitch called Chevron Flame and I was able to find this stitch in one of my knitting books at home called 99 Knit Stitches from the Leisure Arts Inc.

How did I get started?  I calculated the number of stitches that I would need to be successful with the stitch and then I calculated how many stitches I wanted to add in for the border, and after that was all said and done I ended up with 167 stitches casted on my knitting needles.

I don't have all the yarn I need now but I plan on going back for yarn within the next couple of weeks since I'm so low on yarn now and even though I don't have pictures of my project now, I'm going to do my best to get some pics up for you soon!  Well I have a ton of work to do here so be blessed and talk to you soon!

Deep Conditioner Review: Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque.

Hey you guys!  I think I promised that I would write a review on the Shea Moisture Raw Shea Butter Deep Treatment Masque BUT if I confused this product for another then I will be back to write another review for the original promised product.

So to get started I originally purchased this deep conditioner because I had planned to dye my hair with henna and I knew that I was going to need another deep conditioner to follow afterward so after shopping at Target for a good 15 to 20 minutes I decided to go with the product that's pictured above.  Now I hadn't heard to much about this product other than the fact that it was from the Shea Moisture line, and with that being a factor I didn't have any apposing thoughts to picking it up, since I love this line.

So what were my first thoughts when opening the jar?  My first thoughts pertained to the product being REALLY YELLOW (lol) and I thought that the conditioner smelled quite good.  I'm a big stickler on scent so if a hair product smells terribly, excluding henna of course, then I'm going to kick it to the curb.  The product looked thick but once I started to rub it in between my fingers and hair it thinned out quite a bit in my opinion.

How did I apply it?  I took medium chunks of my hair and applied the masque to my hair and once I was done with that section I twisted it up, and continued to do that all over my head.  When that was all done I took a plastic bag and wrapped it over my hair then took my slip and bonnet and placed them over the bag and left my hair under all that for several hours.  I then rinsed that out, added another conditioner, left it in for several minutes then rinsed it out of my hair and all was done!

What do I think about this product?  Well as I said before I really enjoy the smell  and I like that fact that  I was able to get 12 oz of masque for only $9.99.  It says on the jar that it's helps to heal grow and strengthen the hair and the one thing that I have seen in my hair since I've been using this masque is that my hair does feel a lot stronger.  My hair didn't feel super duper soft after rinsing this masque out the first day or the second or third time I used i BUT it did make my hair feel stronger.  All in all it leaves my hair feeling soft enough, keeps my hair strong, it's easy to apply and it's easy to rinse.

Do I plan on buying this product again?  YES!

Well I hope that this quick review was of some help to someone out there that is considering buying this product for themselves but ya'll be blessed and I'll be back later with my post to share!

My Hair Journey Update! Grapeseed Oil Is A Go!

Well good morning to my blog readers!  I'm pretty excited to announce that I was finally able to purchase an oil that I have had my eyes on for quite some time.  It's an oil that I have read about and have considered using on my hair, and when I heard about all the good things that it could do for my hair and scalp, I knew that I had to have it in my possession.

From what I read, Grapeseed Oil is a great oil to use as a sealant, can be used as a hot oil treatment, it's odorless, light weight and enhances moisture. I purchased a 33.8 ounce bottle of Grapeseed Oil from Fresh & Easy for $7.99.

I'm not too sure how I'm going to use this oil on my hair quite yet but I am eager to start experimenting  with this oil as soon as I can!  Well this post cannot be long because I have cleaning to do and kids to look after so be blessed and I'll be back later.

He's Given Me A Song!

Today is the first day in a good little while that I've REALLY sang new songs to the Lord, and that's a real break through for me because for the past month I've been broken.   Putting on a happy face for the crowd has become second nature to me since I was little but it  became almost non existent to me in December.  I don't want to go into all that happened to us but my faith was SHAKEN to the core of my spirit and I had serious doubts about my walk with God and where he wanted us to be.  Not to mention I felt this unbearable since of being LOST, but in the midst of all that God continued to give me hints of his unyielding love for me and that was something that I had to continue to hold on to with all my might.  We're not out of the woods quite yet but during my devotion time this afternoon the Lord gave me two new songs in my spirit and when I started to sing them out to the Lord I felt this beautiful since of RELEASE that I just could not ignore.  I ALMOST (lol) didn't care how loud I got or who could hear me but the song was there and I had to get them out in the atmosphere.  The songs aren't complete now but I plan on completing them sometime in the future.

Those songs symbolize his love and us unforgotten promise to us and as long as I keep singing to the Lord, that will show him my never ending faith in HIM.  I know that I don't talk about my faith all that much here but this entry needed to be done.

I may not see or feel our breakthrough right now but I know God's promise towards us because he's shown us his purpose for our lives, so I'm going to forever hold on to my faith in the Lord.

Thank you Lord for the songs you've blessed me with.  I'll hold onto them!

Elaine: My Latest Knitting Project For A Very Special Baby!!

Good evening and HAPPY NEW YEARS to ya'll!  It's been a very trying year but I'm blessed to have made it into a totally NEW year, so I'm thankful for that.  My latest knitting project now is from the Leisure Arts book entitled Our Best Baby Knit Afghans book 2 and the pattern is called Elaine.  My goal is to knit through the entire book before the year is up.  I might not make it to completing all 30 something patterns this year but I'm sure going to try.
