Blanket #1 From my Book #1 Is Almost Complete!!

On round four of the border for this lovely yellow heirloom.  8 more rows to go though!
Just started this blanket.  I'll get the name of the this blanket on here once I have the time.  So far I love it.

I can't be too long because I have a lot of running to do but I wanted to update you on what the deal is with the crocheting.  I am very close to being done with the yellow blanket that I started because  all I have to do is finish up the border and ALL DONE!  BUT I ran out of yarn so that project is on hold until I can get more later on within the next week, so while waiting for my yellow yarn I started my blanket #2 from the first book that I got and so far I like.  Once this blanket is done I will only have five more blankets from this book to finish until I crocheted my way through it all!  So I am very excited because once I get through this small book I will know for sure what patterns i want to use for my collection AND I will be able to continue to crochet through the second book which is a bit longer to work through but I will do it.

Another book Is Added To My Growing Collection!!

Yes you have read my title correct because my lovely book from my awesome husband came in today and I'm so excited to have it.  I've been searching the internet for over two years for fun and FREE patterns to try for my kids and collection BUT I always wanted books to reference to as well.  So to have this new one is so important to me and yes extremely exciting.

The title of this awesome book is called "Best of Terry Kimbrough Baby Afghans" from the Leisure Arts collection and after doing a quick read through of the entire book the patterns look pretty awesome to try.  It seems to be a little more advanced than what I'm used to but I'm sure that I can handle it being that I've been crocheting since the beginning of baby loves life.  Now I'm still working on the yellow heirloom blanket but, being that I'm working through it pretty quickly, I'll be working from the new book hopefully towards the end of this week or weekend.

What pattern will be tested out first??? HMM...decisions decisions!  I wanted to make a blanket for my son and I also wanted to make a christening blanket for my collection so I'm still going back and forth on what to try first.  SO  If I decide to do the christening afghan then I will go with #10 which is named "Exquisite" but if I decide to crochet a blanket for my Bubba then I will have to go with 11a which is called "Lacy Ripple.  If you want to go on ravelry.com and look these patterns up you will see that there are quite a few other people who have tried these patterns out as well so if you want to see what the finished product may look like, if you plan to try one of these yourself, then please go check out their awesome work.

Well I have a daughter who needs to get her pj's on so we can have our story time so she can proceed to head of to bed to prepare for yet another fun filled day at school so please Be Blessed & Be Inspired!!

A New Day = A Brand New Book And Pattern!

Yes it does!  Good morning to all and how are you doing today?  I'm doing pretty well myself.  Besides having a rather interesting weekend and morning I'm glad to be here to write to you about what's going on with my knitting and crocheting.  When it comes to the knitting I have decided to take a small break that way once I'm well rested from that craft I'll be well prepared to jump back into the last project that I was working on which happens to be a sweater.  I wanted to make my son a sweater first but I think that it will be best to try a smaller sized sweater instead as my trial that way his sweater will come out that much better once I'm done with it.

Now for the crocheting goodness!  My lovely husband decided to bless me with two crocheting books this weekend.  One book he bought for me on Amazon and the other book that he bought me at the crafting store.  While waiting for the first book I am working from the second book he got me and the project is coming out gorgeous.  I'm currently working on pattern from this book called Heirloom Ruffles and so far I'm liking the pattern.  It works up super fast and is super simple to crochet because the body of the blanket is very repetitive, but from what I've read from other people who have done this pattern before myself, the border seems to be pretty tricky so I'm anxious to finish the body so I can get started on the tricky part.  Well I have some vacuuming to do and plenty of crocheting to finish so Be Blessed & Be Inspired!!

Another Day To Granny Away!

What a week it has been for us as a family!  Between trying to keep up with my little project, the kids and the husband, and not to mention baby girls school work and what not, it's been a pretty busy week and I am looking forward to a weekend of peace and quiet.  At least  little taste of peace.

I took the time to reflect on how fast time can fly by because my baby girl is now 4 going on 5 and it seemed like she just came into my life barely  year ago!  And now she's in school and is making us so proud of her so reflecting on how much she's been a blessing to us is what I've been doing for a bit now.  And of course it doesn't help that she has two younger siblings because they seem to be catching up to her fast which just makes me want to cringe sometimes.  Of course I know that kids are due to grow up one day but I would prefer it to be one day a LONG time from now lol.

ANYWAYS!  I wanted to share a project with you today so here it is:-)  I started up a surprise gift that I won't post till later on this year, due to the fact that I don't want the recipient to see it before the right time, and that project inspired me to do a baby version so here it is:->  I thought that I was going to due traditional granny squares and have them all uniformed but then I went ahead and started to make the squares different colors. I'm more than sure that  I will start to add different types of granny squares and different types of squares in general because I think I'm going to want this to be a sampler baby afghan.  But I can always change my mind!  Well I must get ready for church so Be Blessed & Be Inspired!!!

My Very Own Sampler Afghan In Progress:->

 Square #84
 #19

An Idea as to what this afghan is going to look like:->

Well so far I have two red squares completed and I just started the first navy blue square for the blanket.  I wanted to try something a little more complicated than the last square that I did but I didn't want to just jump into something complicated so I opted to knit up square #35 from the book "99 Knitting Stitches".

I love me some red, white and blue!  I don't plan on knitting any white squares but I do plan on bringing all the red and white squares with white yarn which will complete my patriotic spirited afghan:)  Well I have to get ready for church so I will be back to update you on my knitting progress.  What knitting/crocheting projects have you busy??  I'd love to know:-)

New square is Knitted!

Well I just finished up my first square for the sampler afghan that I'm working on last night and decided to start my second square today.  I'm doing #19 from the book "99 Knitting Stitches" and it's coming out pretty good.  I goofed early on but it doesn't look too bad so I'm not upset about that.  I know that once this blanket is done I'll be forgiven.  This particular pattern calls for a cable needle but if you're desperate to try this without a cable you can always you a stitch older, safety pin or pencil, but please be careful not to stick yourself or drop the stitch.  It took me some practice time to get used to holding the cable needle but once you have the technique down then you're good to go.  Don't be afraid of cable needles because they are you friend in the end, especially when you're trying to knit up fancier looking squares/pannels

One may ask 'Where are the patterns of the day?', and the answer to that is that they are still out there some where in some magazine or or article found on the internet or in some other book.  I just haven't been looking to post my picks in a while because of life, BUT I think I'm going to go ahead and share a pattern with you today:->

Okay so to find the pattern of the day I went to crochetpatterncentral.com (yes today's pattern of the day is a crocheting pattern!  Change is good) and found a beautiful pattern called Blue Mandala Throw.  It's a star shaped afghan that looks to be good for decor or to have for the warmer months of the year.  click this to get to patter =>> Blue Mandala Throw

I haven't tried this pattern yet but I do plan on trying this soon for my kiddos.

Well the toddlers need a bath after their morning meal so please Be Blessed & Be Inspired..whoever is out there reading this.  Oh!  And if you have any suggestions for my pattern of the day please go ahead and let me know because I would love to try the pattern out and write about it here ASAP!

A new day to try different things.

So I tried a quick cookie recipe that came out TERRIBLE then went ahead on knitting up my first square for my sampler afghan that I'm crocheting up for our new home that we WILL have one day.  I wanted to do something a little more original for the family so I'm going to pick random patterns from my knitting book and put the squares together.

Project two is a crocodile stitch blanket that I'm working on for my collection and so far I think it's coming out pretty well.   I found this pattern of ravelry which is originally posted on the bernat website.

Crocodile Stitch Baby Blanket

Well I have to start knitting again then I have a chicken to get in the oven and TONS of potatos to skin and boil for tonight dinner.  YUM!   I'll be back to write to you more once I'm not so rushed because I do miss writing to you.

I don't think That I Shared This With You Yet..

This is the teddy set that  I finished knitting up a little over a week ago.  It took some time but I really enjoyed this project and I look forward to doing this project again!

Finishing Up This Set

To finish up the set that I'm working on I have to knit up a baby bear beanie today so to get that started I'm going to need

-Size 10 Knitting needle
-the left overs from my Soft Pink Caron One Pound yarn
-yarn needle
I decided to c/0 46 stitches and work the stockinette stitch throughout the hat.  I add a few purl rows to give a little bit of texture as well. When it comes to the ears I C/O 8 and knitted for 9 rows. Knitted them separately and then attached them to the hat.  I originally got the idea from this pattern from ravelry.com   http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/baby-bear-newborn-or-preemie-hat

A new project on my hands

I decided to give myself a break from the graphs and start a afghan that is long over due.  I am using the Leisure Arts Book that's titled 99 Knitting Stitches and I'm using several different patterns from that.  I knew that I could make a baby blanket with the pattern that I'm putting together but I decided to make a patriotic version for my home to make as the tester.  I started on #84 I believe and It's knitting up quite quickly.  I can't say for certain but I'll mos likely need close to 60 to 80 squares to make the blanket complete.  I'll post pictures once I get further along in my first square.

Happy Wednesday!

Yes yes today is a happy day because I was finally able to do some shopping so I'm back in the cooking and baking game!  Oh how I miss to cook.  I don't know how anyone could not enjoy the sweet art in it but oh well at least I do and the family LOVES it.

One of my projects of the day was to make a no bake peanut butter pie BECAUSE I have been itching to do so for some months now and today was the PERFECT day to do so.  So I went online to find a recipe that I thought I would enjoy trying and there it was!  The perfect recipe fit just for my lil family and the pie came out absolutely divine.  It wasn't too sweet but it was just sweet enough AND I didn't have to add eggs or use that blasted oven.  God is good!  http://www.yummly.com/recipe/Peanut-Butter-Pie-Epicurious that website is where I found this yummy treat so if you're up for something budget friendly and easy to make then you have got to try this!

This week is going to be a good week.

Because I have a lot planned out to get things done and I'm going to succeed.  The first two things that I have planned at the moment is to complete the sweater and blanket that I started and I want to start another original pattern for two baby blankets.

Being that my handsome husband is pretty artistic I asked him to help me out on two ideas that I have so he is going to put the pictures that I have in my mind on the graph for me so I can try them out.  I'm so thankful and blessed to have him.  Well I just wanted to update you on what's going on and NOW I want to share a pattern of the day with you so here it is.

Being that Halloween is a little over a month away I wanted to share a costume that I found super cute to try for my kids.  I know what my two girls are going to be for Halloween this year and I'll be sure to share the pattern with you later on but this is one of the costumes that I'm looking to make for our Bubba:-> It's originally a lamb costume but the person who knitted this up changed it iup to be a caterpillar instead.  C.U.T.E!
Child's Lamb Costume by Margot Stevens  .  I picked this pattern because it's super cute and it's something that challenges me.  Not to mention that it's a sweet FREE pattern to try!

Well I have  A LOT to do so be blessed & Be Inspired!!
